Many people ask whether to tip the mates and how to tip the mates. It is customary to tip the mates 15% to 20% of the cost of the charter. When tipping the mate ask yourself the following:
Was
he polite and respectful when we asked questions?
Did
he constantly check baits and change lure colors or styles when nothing
was biting?
Did
he keep the deck clean and safe?
Did
he instruct you what to do when the fish was on?
Was
he easy to talk to?
Was
there anything that he could have done to make your day better?
